Announcing Multi-Region Support for Ledgers

As Modern Treasury has grown, so has our customer base—now spanning five continents across many verticals, from global payroll companies to international wallets. These customers rely on our Ledgers product to power critical payment flows, like card authorization and real-time settlement. In these contexts, every millisecond matters.

Today, we’re announcing our first multi-region deployment of Modern Treasury Ledgers. We have deployed infrastructure on the East Coast of the US to serve customers closer to where their systems and users are located. Over time, we plan to expand further to other global regions, such as Europe. This reinforces our commitment to provide reliable, fast ledgering infrastructure better than what customers can build in-house.

Why We’re Moving Multi-Region Now

There are two major factors driving our current plans:

1. Global Demand: Modern Treasury initially started on the West Coast of the US, but we now have customers across multiple geographies, including South America, Europe, Africa, and Asia. Since our customers usually serve user bases local to their region, they benefit from having ledgering infrastructure closer to their own servers. Expanding to other regions increases our guarantee for high performance.
2. Critical Path Use Cases: Ledgers powers real-time card authorization, instant balance lookups, and wallet updates for our customers. These use cases require response times in the milliseconds, with high reliability. Closer infrastructure can make a meaningful difference in optimizing performance.

By deploying our infrastructure in additional regions, we’re helping eliminate latency as a blocker to customer growth.

Current Availability and Future Expansion

We’ve stood up our first production-grade Ledgers deployment in the eastern US. This region delivers the same high reliability and enterprise-grade features as our existing infrastructure.

This is the first of many. We’re also preparing deployments in other regions with the goal of meeting our customers wherever they operate.

Modern Treasury is the infrastructure for money movement. With this expansion, we’re bringing that infrastructure closer to our customers so they can build and scale wherever they are.
